When the Jews asked Jesus who He was,
Jesus answered by linking Himself to the Father and said,
"He who sent Me is RELIABLE,
and what I have heard from Him I tell the world."
John 8:25-26

God is RELIABLE because He is FAITHFUL.
"He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change His mind;
for He is not a man, that He should change His mind."
1 Samuel 15:29

It sounds like Samuel might have paraphrased this verse:
"God is not human, that He should lie,
Not a human being, that He should change His mind.
Does He speak and then not act?
Does He promise and not fulfill?"

"May God himself,
the God who makes everything holy and whole,
 make you holy and whole,
put you together—spirit, soul, and body—
and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ.
The One who called you is completely dependable.
If He said it, He’ll do it!"

"Greater Than"

A symbol as a Name for God?
I think it fits!

"Now I know that the LORD is greater than all the gods..."

 King Solomon,
the King of Israel who built the magnificent temple,
said this:
"The temple I am going to build will be great,
because our God is greater than all other gods."
2 Chronicles 2:5

We can be "over-comers",
because when we become God's children,
He lives in us!
"The One who is in you,
the one who is in the world."
1 John 4:4

I hope this encouraged you today.
Thanks for stopping by!
Joy4Today will be posting soon.
I would be honored if you would check back later!

The Capstone

"The Stone the builders rejected has become the Capstone,
the LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes.
This is the day the LORD has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:22-24 NIV

"See, I lay a Stone in Zion,
a chosen and precious Cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in Him
will never be put to shame.
Now to you who believe,
this Stone is precious.
But to those who do not believe,
The Stone the builders rejected
has become the CAPSTONE.
1 Peter 2:6-8 NIV

The Rock Repair Shop!

No New Names this week!

Many of my rocks are in need of repair...
This is my rock repair shop!

Sun, rain, ice, snow and wind have required touch-up work to the rocks!

Why am I working on them so frantically right now?
Because at the upcoming Ladies Retreat,
they will be available for a donation to the scholarship fund of the
 Rock Haven Bible Camp!
One load of rocks has already been taken to the camp.

For more information about the camp,
or the Ladies Retreat, click HERE to see their Facebook page,
or HERE for more information about the camp.

The Desire of All Nations

Today's Name for God on Rocks comes from an Old Testament prophet named Haggai.
God used Haggai to stir up the passion of the people to rebuild the temple.
He helped them to overcome their problem of procrastination in this area,
and to take their focus off themselves long enough to get the job done!

He gave them this message from the LORD;
"Be strong, all you people of the land,...and work;
for I am with you...
My Spirit remains among you;

“For thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth,
 the sea and dry land;
and I will shake all nations,
and they shall come to
the Desire of All Nations...

Ransom.... or Rock of Offense?

1 Peter 1:18-19

You know that from your empty way of life
inherited from your ancestors you were RANSOMED
—not by perishable things like silver or gold,  but by precious blood like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb, namely Christ.

The Message Translation says it this way:
Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God.
It cost God plenty to get you out of that dead-end,
empty-headed life you grew up in.
He paid with Christ’s sacred blood, you know.
He died like an unblemished, sacrificial lamb.
And this was no afterthought.
Even though it has only lately
—at the end of the ages—
become public knowledge, God always knew he was going to do this for you. It’s because of this sacrificed Messiah,
whom God then raised from the dead and glorified,
that you trust God, that you know you have a future in God.

Therefore, to you who believe, He is Precious
but to those who are disobedient,
“The Stone which the builders rejected

Has become the Chief Cornerstone,”
A Stone of Stumbling

And a Rock of Offense.”

It's hard to believe that Jesus could be the Precious, Priceless Redeemer
for some, and be a "Stone of Stumbling" and "Rock of Offense" to others.
It all has to do with our choice - whether we receive or reject.
I've made my choice.
Have you?

It's also hard to believe that it was nearly 80*F when I took these photos,
and now we have snow and 16*F this morning!
This has had my bird feeders fluttering with activity.
I'm grabbing a few shots of this, and will post them on Joy4Today!

In 2 Peter 1:16,  Peter, speaking of Jesus Christ,
 talks of being an eyewitness
to His Majesty.

This kind of goes along with an earlier post
done several weeks ago entitled "Exalted".

"The Son radiates God's own glory
and expresses the very character of God,
and He sustains everything by the mighty power of His command.
When He had cleansed us from our sins,
He sat down in the place of honor
at the right hand of THE MAJESTIC GOD IN HEAVEN."

Thanks for your visit!
I may have a birding post soon on Joy4Today!

"I" Names from Peter and Paul

Speaking of Jesus being INVISIBLE,
Peter said in 1 Peter 1:8,
"Whom having not seen, you love..."
He also speaks of Him as being IMPARTIAL

"Who without partiality judges"...
"knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things,
like silver or gold,
but with the precious blood of Christ,
as of a Lamb without blemish..."

 in 1 Peter 1:17-23.

Paul, writing to Timothy about the Lord Jesus, states:
"Now to the King, eternal, IMMORTAL, INVISIBLE,
to God who alone is wise,
be honor and glory forever and ever.

And of course,
if you'd like to hop on over to Joy4Today,
I'd love to have you visit there as well!

Another of Saint Peter's names:

Speaking of Jesus, Peter said,
"Him God has EXALTED to His right hand
to be Prince and Savior..."
Acts 5:31

Dearly Loved

Peter was remembering his experience on the mountain
when he gave this name to the Lord Jesus.
It was when Jesus gave a glimpse of Who He really was to a selected few,
and when God the Father's voice was heard from the cloud saying,
who brings me great joy.
Listen to Him."
(Matthew 17)

Peter quotes these very words of the Father:
who brings me great joy."
2 Peter 1:17

The Apostle John said,
"God showed how much He loved us
by sending His one and only Son into the world
so that we might have eternal life through Him."

Wishing you much JOY this Christmas season
as you celebrate God's gift of
so that we could have eternal life!

I'm still thinking about a post for Joy4Today.
Maybe I'll come up with one before the week is through!
Thanks for stopping by!
