When I first started painting God's Names on Rocks,
I never realized what a never-ending job it could be!

Just recently on Blue Letter Bible, I pulled up all the references
that pertained specifically to God as "The One".
In writing down a long list, I began to see that this blog could go on forever!

I guess I feel a little like the Apostle John, who said in John 21:25
that the whole world could not contain the books that could be written about Jesus!
He went on to say in John 20:31 that these things were written that
"that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God,
and that by believing you may have life in His NAME."
Thank you for allowing me to present some of HIS NAMES to you in this blog!

So today, I am just going to remind you of some of the posts that were done in the past,
and am considering taking a blogging break for awhile.
(These previous posts can be found by searching the blog archive column on the right)
Thank you so much to all of you that have stopped by!

While taking a blogging break from Rock4Today,
I am still doing posts on Joy4Today when I have
some exceptional photos or thoughts to share!
Click on the link above to check it out,
or take a look at this one on SISTERS from my archives!

Thanks again for all your kind comments and encouragement
as I pursued this challenge!
A special thanks to Jenny Matlock of Alphabe-Thursday,
who inspired and challenged me to think of posts
for each letter of the alphabet.

And in case you wondering...
you never can tell...
I might just take up this challenge again!
Our God is limitless,
and therefore, so are His titles and names!

The ONE Who is The Rock!

"I waited patiently for the LORD;  And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.  He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a ROCK, And established my steps.  He has put a new song in my mouth - Praise to our God;  Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the LORD."  Psalm 40:1-3

"For I proclaim the name of the LORD;
Ascribe greatness to our God.
He is the ROCK,
His work is perfect..."

This post dedicated to my sweet nephew Joel,
who is leaning on the ROCK today
as he faces his second brain surgery to remove
the cancerous glioblastoma.
Your prayers for him and the family appreciated!

The One Who Knows My Name!

"...I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name."

You saw me before I was ever born. Every day of my life was recorded in Your book.       Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.    Psalm 139:16

"Even before I was born,
God chose me
and called me by His marvelous grace."

"Do not be afraid...
I have called you by name;
You are mine.
When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty,
you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you."

One of my popular posts in Joy4Today was on the subject of names.

The ONE Who is the Light

Jesus said, "I am the Light of the world. If you follow Me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the Light that leads to life."  John 8:12

My sister Helen, who is also a "Rock Painter"
is the artist who painted the lighthouse on the rock above.
It is her husband who is the subject of one of my most popular posts on Joy4Today.

The ONE Who Stands by me!

"...There is a FRIEND that sticks closer than a brother."

"...The Lord stood by him..."

A related post to this, and one already featured HERE
is the Name Immanuel, which means "God With Us".
It was definitely written in a warmer setting,
with flowers instead of snow surrounding the rock!

For those of you who are keeping up with my nephew Joel
in his fight against glioblastoma brain cancer,
he now has a BLOG for updates about his journey!
You can find it HERE!
Thank you for your continued prayers for him.

...And hopefully I'll have another Joy4Today post HERE if I get inspired!

Thanks for your visit!

The ONE Who Rewards Faith

In case you hadn't noticed, it's been very cold lately in our part of the world!

So, this post was written down on the farm, with a roaring fire in the woodstove!

The roaring fire seemed quite appropriate for this post,
because the more I thought about it,
the more I realized that faith seems to grow best when under fire!

The story of Daniel's three friends
who faced the trial of being thrown into the fiery furnace
would seem to back this theory up.
The bravery of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego
gives great witness to their faith in God as they said,
"Our God whom we serve
is able to deliver us from the fiery furnace."
...And they were delivered miraculously.
You can find their story HERE!

Believing God is real is one of the first steps of faith.
"It is impossible to please God without faith.
Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe God exists
and He rewards those who sincerely seek Him."

"If your faith is only as big as a mustard seed you can say to this mountain,
‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.
You will be able to do anything."

The One Who Goes with You!

"For the LORD your God is
The One Who Goes With You
to fight for you
...to give you victory."
Deuteronomy 20:4

"See, I am sending an angel ahead of you
to guard you along the way
and to bring you to the place
I have prepared."

"The Angel of the LORD
encamps around those who fear Him,
and delivers them."

Written especially for my nephew Joel and his family,
as they embark on their trip back to the mainland
to begin treatment on his recently diagnosed brain tumor.

The One Who Sees Me

“How great the glory of God!”
And here’s why:
God, high above, sees far below;
    no matter the distance,
He knows everything about us.
When I walk into the thick of trouble,
keep me alive in the angry turmoil.
With one hand strike my foes,
With your other hand save me.
Finish what you started in me, God.
Your love is eternal—don’t quit on me now."

If you think that I have already featured this name for God...
This past week I needed a reminder that no matter what goes on in my life,
or in the lives of my family,
(My grandchildren helped me with that previous related post.
You can view it HERE!)

The ONE Who Holds me!

The ONE Who Holds my Hand!

“Fear not, for I am with you:
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
(Isaiah 41:10 NKJV)

The ONE Who has my Name Written on His hand

“Can a mother forget her nursing child?
Can she feel no love for the child she has borne?
But even if that were possible, I would not forget you!
See, I have written your name on the palms of My hands…”
(Isaiah 49:13-14 The Living Bible)

Despite the storms in life, I'm thankful that we can hide
"beneath the shadow of His wings"
until the danger passes by
for the LORD will fulfill His purposes for us!

(The last set of verses above were from my sis Alice,
claiming those promises as her son undergoes surgery for a brain tumor tomorrow - 01/06/2014.
Your prayers for him are appreciated!
A page with updates of Joel's condition can be found HERE,
along with an opportunity to assist if you should choose.

Behold the Lamb!

If you happened to visit my FaceBook page lately,
you may have noticed that I was somewhat disillusioned this year
with the commercialism of Christmas.
So, for the first time ever,
I did not put up a Christmas tree,
and chose instead to focus on the real meaning of Christmas.

As I did this,
I realized that I had never really thought about the
"Babe in the Manger"
coming as a Lamb till I read this verse;
"Then I saw a Lamb"
from Revelation 5:6.

I was fully aware that John the Baptist had said,
"Behold the Lamb of God
that takes away the sin of the world"
(John 1:29).

But I never really thought about
how God the Father must feel as He sent His Son to earth,
knowing that His Son would be the Sacrificial Lamb
that would take my place,
so I could be forgiven of my sins
and have the gift of eternal life.

"You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood...
...Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
To receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.
Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him Who sits on the throne
forever and ever."
Revelation 5:9-13

is a short video made by Billy Graham
that explains why Jesus' death was necessary for our salvation.
I invite you to click on this LINK to view it.
It could make this your best Christmas ever!
