Starting a new series of posts!

A Hebrew expert I am not!

But, this is the direction "Names of God on Rocks" is going to take for awhile.

With the help of my "Names of God" Bible and other references,

 I hope to post a name of God with Hebrew lettering each week!

I hope you'll join me in this new venture!

I don't know of any better Name to start out with than that of

"Jesus, the Savior"!

She will give birth to a son,
and you are to give him the name Jesus,
because he will save his people from their sins."
Matthew 1:21

Last but not least - the "Z"

Well, this is the end of something,
and the beginning of something new!
Although I have used this name for God as "Alpha and Omega",
I am using it again for another reason.
(Click on highlighted letters above if you wish to see that post.)
This is the week for "Z" with Alphabe-Thursday.

Alpha compares to the "A" in our alphabet,
and Omega to the "Z".

 "...the One sitting on the throne said,
 "Look, I am making everything new!"
 And then He said to me,
 "Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true."
And He also said, "It is finished!
 I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End.
 To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life."
Revelation 21:5-6 

This is a little portion of my rock garden featuring the
Names of God on Rocks.

Well, I've been linking up with Jenny Matlock for a little over two years.
In that time, I have gone through the alphabet FOUR times
with Names of God on Rocks!
It has been a bit challenging at times!

The YES!

eXceptional!

Daisies are my favorite flower.
I love their simplistic beauty and freshness.

SO,

it seemed appropriate to use them to showcase this name for Almighty God.

King Solomon, who is said to be the wisest man who ever lived, said:
"Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind
or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother's womb,
 so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things."
Ecclesiastes 11:5

And it was Solomon's father, King David, who said:
"As for God, his way is perfect...
For who is God besides the LORD?
 And who is the Rock except our God?"
Psalm 18:30-31

The Warrior!

The school I graduated from had "Warriors" for their mascot.

But did you realize that "Warrior" is also a Name and Description of God?

"The LORD is a Warrior; the LORD is His Name."
Exodus 15:3
The verses following this are majestic in their description of God as a Warrior.

They remind me of a former post I did entitled
Tsebaoth,
which means "LORD of the armies of Heaven"!

"The LORD will march out like a champion,
 like a Warrior He will stir up His zeal;
with a shout He will raise the battle cry and will triumph over His enemies."
Isaiah 42:13
I love the verses that follow this verse, also!
They have been precious promises to me!

"But the LORD is with me like a mighty warrior..."Jeremiah 20:11

God of Vengeance

This is not a name for God that I wanted to post!

I had been trying to come up with a "V" name for God,

and really wanted to post "The Vindicator" instead.

But after the Boston Marathon Bombing today,

I feel okay about posting this!

"O LORD, the God of vengeance,
 O God of vengeance,
 let your glorious justice shine forth!" 
Psalm 94:1 NLT

Unity

This unusual rock caught my eye this week,

and it seemed a good one on which to post this Name for God.

"Be completely humble and gentle;
 be patient, bearing with one another in love.
Make every effort to keep the Unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
... and he gave gifts to men
...to equip the saints for the work of ministry,
 for building up the body of Christ,
until we all attain to the unity of the faith
and of the knowledge of the Son of God"

Treasure!

"The Kingdom of Heaven is like a TREASURE

 that a man discovered hidden in a field.

 In his excitement, he hid it again 

and sold everything he owned

The geode on the right in the picture 

looks like any ordinary rock...

that is, until you break it open.

Inside are sparkling delights!

Finding God in the Bible is much like that.

He says if you seek Him,

you will find Him.

Jeremiah 29:13

When you find Him,

He is your Treasure,

and you become His treasure!

 Of all the people on earth, 

the LORD your God has chosen you 

to be his own special treasure.

Deuteronomy 7:6

Spending time with sisters on river trails is also a treasure!

The Sun

I'm posting this Name for God especially for a friend

who had surgery this week, and is a bit discouraged with 

pain and slow progress.

This morning we discussed that

 very often healing comes in increments

 instead of immediately.

So, if you, like my friend,

are a bit discouraged,

I hope this Name for God encourages you today!

"But for you who fear my name,
the Sun of Righteousness will rise
 with healing in his wings..."
Malachi 4:2 NLT

Resurrection

Spring is such a picture of the resurrection!

The dead leaves are pushed aside.

New life and blooms burst forth.
