After my son Greg was born, I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia. I read books, altered my eating habits, gave up sweets, and did all I could to control my health.
I learned a lot during this time period, and I still practice much of it today.
I've been amazed as I've looked in God's Word how much He has to say about health. He has much instruction - especially in the book of Leviticus - about what to eat, and what not to eat. But then, under the New Covenant He says, "Everything is permissable, but not everything is beneficial." (1 Corinthians 10:23)
|In studying about this subject,|
I have come to this conclusion:
God wants me to be healthy!
The Book of Proverbs has a lot to say about health.
Here are a few examples:
Proverbs 17:22 says cheerfulness affects our health.
Proverbs 15:30 says cheerfulness even affects the strength of our bones!
Proverbs 4:22 says paying attention to God's Words
gives HEALTH to our whole body!
Ultimately, it is God who is our Health;
it is God who is our Healer.
Whether our needs are physical health or emotional health,
true wholeness comes from God our Father,
who loves and cares for us.
Matthew Henry says in his Commentary:
"God is the great physician.
If we be kept well, it is He that keeps us;
if we be made well, it is He that restores us;
He is our life, and the length of our days."
