After my son Greg was born, I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia. I read books, altered my eating habits, gave up sweets, and did all I could to control my health.
I learned a lot during this time period, and I still practice much of it today.
I've been amazed as I've looked in God's Word how much He has to say about health. He has much instruction - especially in the book of Leviticus - about what to eat, and what not to eat. But then, under the New Covenant He says, "Everything is permissable, but not everything is beneficial." (1 Corinthians 10:23)
| In studying about this subject, I have come to this conclusion: God wants me to be healthy! The Book of Proverbs has a lot to say about health. Here are a few examples: Proverbs 17:22 says cheerfulness affects our health. Proverbs 15:30 says cheerfulness even affects the strength of our bones! Proverbs 4:22 says paying attention to God's Words gives HEALTH to our whole body! Ultimately, it is God who is our Health; it is God who is our Healer. Exodus 15:26 Whether our needs are physical health or emotional health, true wholeness comes from God our Father, who loves and cares for us. Psalm 147:3 Matthew Henry says in his Commentary: "God is the great physician. If we be kept well, it is He that keeps us; if we be made well, it is He that restores us; He is our life, and the length of our days." Nicely written to remember about health. Thanks for sharing!
So good, I especially liked."Everything is permissable, but not everything is beneficial." (1 Corinthians 10:23)
My daughter is right into eating properly, and its a good way to being healthy. Our attitude also has much to do with health. This helps to remind me, to be kind, give my worries to the Lord and forgive others.. Now you have me thinking~
Hello there - you posted after me at Women Living Well so I thought I'd pop over and say Hi. I have to say that the names of God is one of my favourite studies so your blog name drew me. Sooo agree about our bodies being a temple for the Spirit .. yes God wants us healthy so we can serve and honor Him. Enjoyed my visit here today.
What a wonderful word study! The Bible is truly filled with wonderful insights.
Happy Health to You!
Love this! Our attitude really can affect how we feel. I know there are times when I am tired and grouchy and it just seems like I feel terrible, yet I am actually in very good health. A good reminder to be cheerful!
Good for you for looking after your health!
You are right. God has a lot to say about health but too many times we disregard it. Attitude for sure is a very important part of being healthy.
Blessings,
Charlotte
Hypoglycemia is a tough thing to control! I'm glad that your faith helped you through the management of it!
You are a true inspiration, Eshter Joy! :) Not all people can find the discipline to apply the knowledge they’ve gained, even if it will do them good. And I am glad you didn’t lose hope during that hard time. Stay strong and healthy!
