This Name for God comes from the interesting story
about Gideon found in Judges chapter six.
(To read it in its entirety, click on the link above.)
Gideon was living in a time of distress and oppression.
Marauders were destroying their crops,
and stealing their animals.
Gideon was threshing wheat at night to hide the harvest from the predators.
It was at this time that the LORD appeared to him.
God saw Gideon as a brave warrior
who could deliver the Israelites from their oppressors.
It was interesting to me that in a time when there seemed to be no peace,
Gideon recognized that God alone was the source of peace.
|"Gideon built an altar to the LORD there|
and named it
(which means The LORD is Peace)..."
About two years ago I was fairly new at blogging,
and did a post on PEACE.
It has some comforting verses in it
that I often review when I am needing a little peace in my life.
